Five excuses for not answering email

I recently sent out an email asking people for their funniest, most outrageous reasons for not returning emails. And you know what? Very few people responded. Not surprising, right? But the ones who did, gave me some really great reasons. Here are the top five:

Danielle's Inbox

  1. Don’t take it personally. I literally have 8,650 unread mail messages in my inbox…
(Danielle Freni, Director of Communications, Central Synagogue)
  2. I didn’t open my inbox today.
  3. Your email must have gone into my junk folder…
  4. Once my inbox reaches over 100 unread emails, I just randomly start deleting…sorry if one of those was yours!
(Lauren Bailey, Director of Marketing and Communications, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center)
  5. I always respond to email!!! Sometimes it takes a while because I am so inundated…
(Ariana Smart Truman, Producer, Elevator Repair Service Theater)

Come on, fess up. Add your favorite in the comments.
